The Old Power Station is a landmark waterfront development built on the site of the old Vastern Road power station in Reading along the River Thames. The Berkeley Homes development draws on the area’s rich industrial heritage and offers a perfect balance of urban convenience and riverside tranquility. For most of the 20th century the local coal-fired power station generated electricity for Reading and the surrounding area. It was strategically located between the river and railway where water from the river cooled the turbine halls and coal, delivered by train, fuelled the furnaces.
The brand identity celebrates the old power station's Art Deco heritage. This is reflected in the 1920s-inspired symbol and colour palette directly sourced from the original red brick wharf building and chimney. The brand's tone of voice is direct, playful, and informative, while the visual language explores the idea of 'energy' through powerful messaging and iconography.
